Today, Bureau Veritas made the final inspection of the final three sets offshore AVMs (Anti-Vibration Mounts) for Siemens Energy, an important milestone ahead of delivery.

The project includes totally 15 AVMs supporting five SGT-750 gas turbines with a weight of 258 tons/each.

These are among the largest AVMs we have manufactured so far.

In addition to high static and dynamic loads, they are designed to withstand the demanding offshore environment for an FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading). The final installation is in Block 58 offshore Suriname, located around 150 km from the coast. 

Engineered for FPSO Conditions

Siemens Energy delivers the electrical systems powering the process operations on the FPSO, supporting production facilities from SBM Offshore and Technip Energies.

In 1989, Vibratec delivered three sets of AVM to the offshore platform Snorre A. Each set consisted of three AVMs supporting a gas turbine with total weight 119 tonnes.

Offshore Anti-Vibration Mounts Under Condition Survey

Now it’s time for an overhaul and updating of the turbines. This week the AVMs are undergoing a condition survey to verify their current status and determine whether replacement is required. 

On site, Kjetil Vedholm from Vibratec is carrying out the survey together with Panu Lehto from Brekke & Strand, focusing on:

• Vibration measurements
• Height verification of the isolators to detect settlement or creep
• Technical assessment of structural integrity and remaining service life, including potential replacement

Durable Anti-Vibration Solutions for Offshore Applications

This week, we are delivering two sets of Anti-Vibration Mounts for 3-point mounting systems to CEDAR LNG in Canada.

The customized AVMs will support the baseplates for centrifugal process pumps, each weighing 25 tons. These will be installed outdoors on deck in an offshore environment – therefore, the AVMs have elastic elements and movement limiters in acidproof stainless steel. The AVMs have a resonance frequency of 12 Hz and are equipped with transportation locks and height adjustment capability.

Effective Structural Protection for Long-Term Stability

Engineered for high static loads and harsh offshore conditions, these mounts ensure effective vibration isolation, structural protection, and long-term operational stability.

Vibratec has delivered nine AVM’s (anti-vibration mounts) to SBM Offshore. These AVM’s will support three motor-gear-pump skids on the FPSO Jaguar (Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading) unit for the Whiptail project in Guyana.

Each pump, weighing 104 tons, is supported by three AVM’s.Each AVM weighs approximately 1.5 – in other words, the AVM’s are very robust; they have been designed to withstand accidental loads up to 290 tons each horizontally and 205 tons in uplift. The AVM’s are ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) Design Approved.

When designing AVM’s it is i crucial that the stiffness of the sub-structure is taken into account when calculating the Transmissibility. This is extra important for heavy equipment offshore, as these decks often are relatively soft.

We are thrilled to announce the successful delivery of 8 AVM units for the installation of an accommodation module. A module that also features a helicopter platform. 

This exciting delivery is part of the Dolwin5 project, with the end customer being the prominent energy company TenneT!

Our AVM units, manufactured according to EN1090-2 EXC3 and CE-marked, are now integrated into the impressive platform, DolWin Epsilon, designed for wind power to generate electricity. The platform, initially constructed at Keppel in Singapore, is currently being transported by boat to the North Sea. The first destination is Aibel in Haugesund, Norway, where it will receive additional equipment before being towed to Germany.

We are proud to be part of this project and look forward to continued delivery of innovative technical solutions to meet the evolving needs of our customers.
